The only reason I find it odd that I haven’t blogged about Magnolia Bakery in the West Village until right now is because back during my first semester of freshman year, my friends and I trekked down to
Bleeker St. just for these perfect cupcakes 3 weekends in a row. Granted, I haven’t been back there until yesterday...so I guess it makes sense that I haven’t blogged about it until now. Fun fact: this particular Magnolia’s is apparently famous and always has a line out the door and around the corner. I always thought it was because of how small a space it was. Whoops. Hit the jump for more pics of delicious cupcakes and such!

The Aftermath. |
I had the weirdest craving for cupcakes for like 3 weeks, which evolved into watching Cupcake Wars on Hulu and nothing else for 2 days straight. I realized at that point that cupcakes had to be moved up to priority number 1, and moved up they were. I don’t have to say much about how rich, decadent, and delicious these cupcakes were because, well you can clearly see the pictures and the way we handled those cupcakes. Although a small space, Magnolia packs as many cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and so many different kinds of desserts as possible in there. They even make room to serve coffee and such. Sharing 4 cupcakes between 3 people is actually a genius idea -- you can sample 4 different flavors and yet it seems like you only ate about 1 whole cupcake which isn’t even all that much (she said to herself, reassuringly). Which was the favorite? The Hummingbird. It was like nothing else I’ve ever tasted. The vanilla/vanilla was a close second, but dammit the Hummingbird was good.
